Arthur Rackham
(1867 - 1939)

Like Frank Brangwyn, born the same year, European-born Rackham, is well known to US audiences. Londoner Rackham's watercolors graced many a book deemed for young ones, but loved by adults, including those by Hans Christian Anderson, Aesop, and Grimm; but which also included Dickens, Poe, and Ibsen. Titles include: Peter Pan, A Christmas Carol, Irish Fairy Tales, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Vicar of Wakefield, The Complete Angler, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, The Wind in the Willows, and Alice in Wonderland.
